Ian Charles Parrish is recognized as one of the Baltimore area's most influential real estate experts. A professional real estate investor, Ian has successfully mentored more than 1,000 people to enhance their earning power while revitalizing communities. In light of his initiatives, Ian was named “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” by the U.S. Small Business Administration, and has earned official Citations from both the Mayor of Baltimore and the Governor of Maryland for his “outstanding leadership and commitment to the community.” He serves on The USA Today “Entrepreneur’s Panel,” was nominated among the Baltimore Business Journal's “Top 40
Executives Under 40,” and was named one of Creative Real Estate Magazine’s “Most Informative People.” Listed in the Who's Who of Public Speakers, he is a regular guest on numerous radio and television programs, and a frequent lecturer at area colleges and boards of Realtors.
Ian began his investment career at age 16, when he purchased his first investment property with guidance from his father, an accomplished real estate entrepreneur. At age 23, Ian assembled one of the largest residential real estate transactions in Baltimore’s Historic Mount Vernon (253 apartments, $4 Million). Today, Ian is involved in all types of real estate transactions throughout the country. Ian is also the President and Co-Founder of Investors United School of Real Estate, America’s first brick-and-mortar school dedicated exclusively to teaching the techniques of successful real estate
investing. With personal mentoring, state-of-the-art resources, and a practical, hands-on approach, students from all over the Mid-Atlantic “earn while they learn” during their two-semester course of study. IU is currently opening its doors nation-wide.
An important focus of the school is revitalizing communities; "To empower members to create income
through real estate and to improve communities" is the school's mission. Indeed, every year IU members invest approximately $10,500,000.00 in urban revitalization, employ more than 13,500 people, and create hundreds of new homeowners. Since the school's founding, Ian and his students have recycled hundreds of vacant, abandoned or distressed properties, placing them back into service to
benefit both individual families and entire communities. Because of those positive contributions, the Mayor of Baltimore awarded the school an Official Citation for its "its diligent efforts to promote home- ownership and to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Baltimore through real estate renovation."
Another positive contribution to the community, Ian founded The Maryland Real Estate Exchange, whose mission is to educate the local public about real estate. “The Exchange” attracts 200 participants monthly to its real estate networking events. He also established the Investors United Scholarship in 2006, which is awarded annually to a deserving, graduating senior at the University of Baltimore.
Ian resides in Homeland, Maryland with his wife, Lorraine. He enjoys mountaineering, rock and ice climbing, skiing, sailing, and bonsai gardening. Ian, a fluent Spanish speaker, and Lorraine organize clothing drives for underprivileged families in Mexico. They also enjoy contributing to the Shriners' Children's Hospitals, which provide free treatment to burn victims worldwide.
